Nature Journaling with Tanya Rucosky
February 9 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm$30.00
Looking for a way to enjoy the outdoors and art at the same time? Learn to explore and record the natural world in a Nature Journaling class with instructor Tanya Rucosky.
Touch upon drawing, painting and writing skills while exploring the natural history of our region. Learn more about what you are seeing in the natural word and develop the skill to capture it with contour drawing, creative non-fiction and watercolors.
Participants should bring:
an unlined medium sized notebook that ideally opens flat so they don’t have to fight with it when they are sitting in the woods.– it can be a fancy journal or a simple sketchbook. (Big enough to have room to do what they want– small enough to carry easily in the woods)
ball point pens and pencils (Pencils are a must as pens don’t work on wet paper– and that can happen outside). Ball point pens because felt tip pens BLEED with water drips on them.
water colors— inexpensive children’s ones are fine
a water bottle
a medium sized comfortable backpack for supplies.
a sit up-on, or plastic bag to sit on while in the woods.
Optional; cameras, colored pencils, field guides, and binoculars. People should dress for the weather– walking to location and then about 45 minutes just working. Program begins with a brief classroom session first.
