Forest Biodiversity

What species are found in our forests, how does biodiversity above, and below ground relate? Ecosystems are complex and include a wealth of species interacting with one another and the environment. Within forests, most biodiversity is belowground and comprised of soil biota (especially microorganisms). In this research with Second Century Stewardship Fellow Abbey Paulson and Dr. Nico Eisenhaur of Leipzig University we are examining the diversity and associations among species above and belowground in forests of coastal Maine.
